Two mass shootings in South Africa’s most populous regions have left at least 27 people dead, according to police reports. Authorities confirmed that a group of armed suspects attacked a bar in a Johannesburg suburb on Saturday night, killing 17 and wounding at least 15 others with assault rifles and pistols. A separate incident at a barbecue venue near Cape Town resulted in another 10 fatalities. The South African police service is investigating both attacks as they continue to assess the scale of the violence.
