British climber, 28, dies in fall in northern Spain

A British mountaineer has died after a fatal fall while descending from the summit of Torrecerredo, the highest peak in the Picos de Europa range. Authorities confirmed the incident occurred on the east side of the mountain, where the climber fell approximately 61 meters down a steep gully. The Spanish Civil Guard in Asturias reported the accident took place during the afternoon. Rescue teams later recovered the victim’s body around 20 meters below the summit.
