A member of the Islamic State’s Khorasan Province affiliate has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for providing support to the extremist group linked to a deadly suicide bombing at Kabul’s airport during the chaotic US military withdrawal. The attack, which killed dozens of American service members and Afghan civilians, was claimed by the same terrorist network. While a Virginia jury found the defendant guilty of aiding the group, they could not reach a unanimous decision on his direct involvement in the bombing itself. The case marks one of the few legal consequences faced by individuals tied to the attack.
