A landmark ruling has forced corrections to wage discrepancies for drivers, with officials calling it a win over exploitative business practices. While the majority of affected workers were shortchanged by minimal amounts, the average underpayment reached nearly eight dollars per affected individual. The decision follows a prolonged dispute over fair compensation in the industry. Critics argue the settlement, though significant in principle, leaves many still struggling with financial shortfalls.

The mayor characterized it as a victory against corporate greed. Meanwhile, 65 percent of affected drivers were underpaid by $1 or less, and the average underpayment was $7.70.
