"Dreamers Under Siege: DACA Recipients Face Unprecedented Deportation Threats" A disturbing trend has emerged in the US, as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained and deported hundreds of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients since January 2025. The DACA program, created to protect young undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US as children, has been a beacon of hope for the so-called "Dreamers." However, a growing number of these individuals are now facing the very deportation threats they were supposed to be shielded from. Despite having committed no crimes, many DACA recipients are being swept up in ICE's renewed enforcement efforts, leaving them and their families in a state of panic and uncertainty. As Lisa Desjardins reports, the fate of these young immigrants hangs in the balance, raising critical questions about the future of the DACA program and the safety of those who call the US home.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals is a program created to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation if they were brought to the U.S. as children. But since January 2025, ICE has detained more than 260 DACA recipients and deported more than 80. Although there are reasons why "Dreamers" could be deported, many who have done nothing wrong are getting caught up. Lisa Desjardins reports.
